Four goals in the third period made the difference in the Erie Otters 5-3 win over the North Bay Battalion.

The Troops led 3-1 going into the third, and Jake Smith made 25 saves on 29 shots throughout the game.

Battalion Head Coach Stan Butler says goaltending wasn’t the issue for his team.

It’s in the third when Butler says the team had their problems.

The Troops got goals from Ryan Kujawinski, Matt Santos and Zach Poirier.

The NHL’s projected number one draft pick Connor McDavid had two assists for the Otters.

Butler was asked if the hype surrounding McDavid was a distraction at all for his club.

The Battalion remains three points behind Barrie for the Central Division lead.

They host Sault Ste. Marie at Memorial Gardens on Wednesday night.
