OPPA heroic effort by an OPP constable was recounted on Wednesday at Queens Park.  Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli told the story of Constable Michael Piche’s actions recently. A local resident was attempting to rescue his Irish setter Zoe in the Ottawa River in Mattawa when Piche arrived on the scene.  Fedeli says the ice gave way and Piche crawled out on his stomach up to his waist and pulled the man and his dog to safety.

This wasn’t the first time Piche was recognized for his efforts.

He received a Diamond Jubilee medal in 2012 for rescuing a woman who was drowning in the Mattawa River in 2011.

Fedeli says courageous acts like these two events deserve to be recognized at Queens Park.
