chamberNorth Bay will have a tourism officer in place within six months says Chamber of Commerce President Jake Lacourse.

The position will be paid for by a tourism infrastructure fund that will get its money from a voluntary two per cent surcharge tacked on the bill of guests visiting the city.

The fund will also pay for product development, marketing and a pool of money that will assist in bidding for events like conventions.

It’s the seventh attempt to develop such a fund, reaching all the way back to the 1980’s.
