crimestopperslogoAn important fundraiser for Near North Crimestoppers on Thursday.  Their celebrity jailathon is taking place at the Northgate Shopping Centre from 11-4.  Police Coordinator Jean Lemieux says they raised 16 thousand dollars from holding this event last year and hope to be around that total this year  with a goal of 15 thousand dollars. Some of the celebrities include councillors Sheldon Forgette and Chris Mayne, Police Chief Paul Cook, OPP Superintendent Ken Leppert and the President of the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce Jake Lacourse.

Lemieux  says 28 people in all will be in jail.

He says they will have to answer to a made up phoney charge.

Lemieux points out they don’t receive government funding so this is a key fundraiser for them so they can run their program.
