Beach volleyball facility to start taking shape

An update on a beach volleyball facility coming to North Bay that we first told you about in early April.

Vision Sports and Entertainment plans on laying out the five international beach volleyball courts this week, get the fencing up and prepare the new Community Waterfront Park facility for use in early June.

President Amadeo Bernardi says it’ll take some time to get all the pieces into place, but they’re hosting a few major tournaments this summer and have set up a summer beach volleyball league too.

Overall, he says the facility is going to be quite unique.

And, Bernardi says it’s good news for sports tourism locally.

Meantime, Bernardi says they’re also making the facility multi-purpose too, with the ability to convert the courts to beach tennis, badminton and beach soccer, which is quite popular in Europe.

He says the goal is to eventually make the facility operational all day, every day.
