Fairytale Forest - Sunburst

Sustainably managing Boreal Forests in Canada was a focus on Parliament Hill today (Wednesday).

Representatives from around the country, including Al Spacek the President of FONOM were on hand.

Spacek says in a release “we are here to promote that companies in Ontario’s Boreal Forest operate under a world class forest management regime with advanced harvesting practices.”

In Ontario, only 0.5 percent of the forest in this region is sustainable harvested annually, while 44.2% is unavailable for harvest.

Recently, the industry has been targeted by non-government environmental groups in an effort to decimate forest companies.

Efforts are being made to decrease the spread of misinformation and to promote the world class forest management regime of Quebec and Ontario.
