fishingNipissing MPP Vic Fedeli has a petition online and at his office aimed at getting the re-stocking efforts of the Walleye population in Lake Nipissing started again.

It was recently announced the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry had turned down the stakeholders request to continue with those efforts – which they have done for years.

Fedeli spoke about the issue during his Members’ Statement Wednesday and he says “The refusal to allow the stakeholders – at their own expense – to augment stocking efforts proves that the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing at the Ministry. Lake Nipissing is one of the most ecologically and economically important lakes in Northeastern Ontario.”

Fedeli says 1,200 other Ontario water bodies have already been approved to continue their restocking efforts.
