New dog park opens in North Bay

It was a beautiful day Saturday as the North Bay and District Humane Society officially opened their off-leash dog park.

The park, which is over an acre in size, is located just off Champlain Park Road and is separated with one half for small dogs, and the other half for large.

Daryl Vaillancourt is the Executive Director of the North Bay and District Humane Society and he says a few rules for the park include no glass is allowed on the property, no food should be brought, and there is a limit of 3 dogs per handler.

Vaillancourt says he hopes they can bring grass to the park, make sure dogs have access to water, and that soon they can install lights.

A few dog owners commented on how happy they are to not only have a place for their pets, but also to socialize.

Most also plan on using the park throughout the year.
