chamberSoaring energy prices have prompted the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce to call for a halt on new green energy projects.

President Jake Lacourse says more and more manufacturers are pulling up roots and relocating to Quebec or the northern United States.

He says energy is becoming cost prohibitive and what is needed is a better business plan

The board is asking that the government cease entering into any new contracts at this time to do a proper cost/benefit analysis on energy in Ontario.

“While the concept of moving towards more green energy is appropriate , the reality is the program has not seen any increase in green energy and has only added costs to the ratepayers of Ontario,” said Lacourse.
