North Bay Police logoCity Police say they are getting several reports of scams going on over the telephone. Corporate Communications Coordinator Marie Lugli says two of the scams involve the caller who identifies themself as being from Canada Revenue Agency and they want personal information like social insurance number or credit card number. She says they also want INTERAC e-transfer information.

Lugli says they are also getting calls relating to scams about someone wanting to fix your computer, a scam that you’ve won a free trip and a call that says your credit card has been compromised.

And Lugli says don’t be tricked by what you see on your phone if you have call display.

She says there is technology that enables fraudsters to display a number that may be a local number or a respectable business when in reality that is not the case.

Lugli points out scams aren’t just happening over the phone.

They are also happening via mail, e mail and text too.
