Timmins standoff ends with suspect still at large

The suspect in Wednesday’s Canadian Tire stand off in Timmins remains at large.

Police spokesperson Kate Cantin says police went inside the store, and not only found that firearms were missing, the suspect wasn’t there.

Police say the store’s alarm went off around 4 am Wednesday and employees found an intruder in the building when they arrived, then called police.

Officers then evacuated several other stores, shut down nearby roads and Ontario Provincial Police then set up a broad perimeter around the scene.

There was a heavy police presence with reports of dozens of officers on the scene.

However, once police entered the store, no one was found.
