Water rates the focus of a committee meeting tonight

Trying to find an equal and fair payment for the water meter rates; that’s the goal of the Water Rates Review Committee.

They are one of three special committees set up by City Council with each one focusing on a separate issue.

Councillor Jeff Serran sits on the committee and he says they are expected to have a recommendation to council by September 8th.

Their inaugural meeting goes tonight (Monday).

Serran says they will look at ways to make payments fair for residential, commercial and industrial users.

He says by having these special committees they hope to find the best solution to these issues.

Serran says “it doesn’t matter what we do we aren’t going to make everyone happy, but we are trying to do what’s best to move the city forward and by having these committees it really puts us on that track and moving forward in the right direction.”
