seniorsThe province is doubling the investment in the Seniors Community Grant Program from $1 million to $2 million to help more seniors stay engaged with their communities.

Funding will go to 367 not-for-profit community projects that foster volunteerism, social inclusion and community engagement for seniors.

Last year 179 groups received funding, including just over $6,700 for the North Bay Area Museum Society.

The project saw the museum used for monthly social meetings, senior’s bus tours to the museum were organized along with workshops at local nursing and retirement homes.

June is Seniors Month.

This year’s theme is Vibrant Seniors, Vibrant Communities.
