Local interest in this weekend's NHL Draft

Plenty of local eyes will be on the NHL draft this weekend.

Along with a couple of Battalion players being in the final draft rankings, North Bay’s Ken Appleby, fresh off a Memorial Cup win with the Oshawa Generals, will be in Sunrise, Florida waiting for his name to be called.

He says some teams have been in contact.

Appleby says his parents and other friends and family will be at the draft with him this weekend.

Meantime, he says the Memorial Cup is coming to North Bay.

Back to the NHL draft, Battalion forward Brett McKenzie is ranked 120th among North American skaters while defenceman Riley Bruce is 210th.
