North Bay Police logoCity police and fire officials want everyone to have a safe Canada Day on Wednesday. They’re passing along a number of safety messages.  People are reminded that setting off fireworks in any public place is not allowed while they have several tips for private celebrations.  They include storing fireworks in a cool, dry, ventilated place that’s out of the reach of children, read all instructions, choose a wide, clear site, don’t use fireworks in windy conditions, keep water nearby and never try to light a firework or hold a lit firework in your hand.   Meantime, all parking lots will be open during tomorrow’s Canada Day festitivies except the one by the Boat Restaurant, drinking alcohol is prohibited at all public events on the grounds and Memorial Drive will be closed from 8pm to 11pm for the fireworks.
