Home on McIntyre a "complete write off" after house fire

One man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a house fire on McIntyre Street this afternoon (Monday).

Deputy Fire Chief Greg Saunders says it was a combination of burns and smoke inhalation that sent the man to the hospital.

Saunders explains their initial findings after crews were able to douse the fire.

He says there was major extensive damage to the house.

Crews had to hold back by-standers as they cut a wire from a hydro pole attached to the house, and the wire was live for a short time on the ground. Meantime, police presence was also needed on the scene as a couple of residents tried to enter the home while Fire Crews were still working.
