An increase of skilled immigrant workers in the area may happen

There could be more skilled immigrant workers coming to our region. HR North Project Manager Garvin Cole says they hear from a lot of northern Ontario businesses who are having trouble hiring domestic workers. He says HR North and Skills International have teamed up to make hiring professionals from around the world a lot easier. Cole says they put together a comprehensive database which already does a lot of the background work for the employer.

He says that has been one the problems in hiring outside the country.

He says “they don’t understand the candidates education, or if their work history is valid.

There’s also criminal records checks that occur – and Skills International does all that work.”

Cole says this eliminates a lot of doubt or uncertainty when considering an overseas candidate.

Cole says they recently held a seminar with 60 companies who are looking to fill positions through this process.
