Deputy Mayor Forgette

City staff is recommending council deny a residential housing application.

The homeowner of a residence on Paul St. wants to have six rental bedrooms inside the home, but the city by-law maximum is five.

Chair of General Government Sheldon Forgette has moved the motion forward to council, regardless of the recommended option.

He says denying the applicant won’t necessarily stop them from renting six bedrooms as he can rent it as a family instead of six individuals – which would get around the by-law.

Forgette says the home fits all the standards and safety codes. Council will make a final vote in two weeks.
