Another movie is filming in North Bay and area this week.

Country Crush is a country/pop musical that follows the story of a city girl and aspiring singer who meets up with a country boy.

Executive Producer Marty Beecroft is also a composer and songwriter.

He says there’s great government programs that provide incentives to film in the north, but the region fits in perfectly with the look they needed.

Beecroft says while they’ve filmed the city shots in Sudbury, some of the locations here have included area farms and more.

Meantime, he says when casting they were looking for a good mix of singers and actors.

Other cast members include Kevin McGarry and North Bay’s Josh Bainbridge.

On top of residents being respectful while they’re filming, Beecroft says they’ve had plenty of support locally too.  “Whenever we’ve searched for crew or locations or any support, infrastructure it’s always been great and it’s always been enthusiastic and top notch.”

The film is expected to be released early 2016.

When city girl and aspiring singer Nancy Taylor’s (Madeline Merlo) car breaks down on the way to a cottage party, her best friend Ainsley (Sophie Simmons) immediately suggests they ditch the car and hops in with her group of rambunctious friends in the following pickup truck.

Good-hearted Country boy Charlie Bishop (Munro Chambers) comes to Nancy’s rescue with a tow-truck and an offer to fix her car by morning. Sparks fly and a promising romance begins…

After saying goodbye to his older brother Cody (Kevin McGarry); who is shipping out to the Middle East for another tour of duty, Charlie decides to follow Nancy to the big city and pursue the romance.

Although the relationship begins with promise, the reality of Nancy’s budding career and the interference of her opportunistic music producer Brad causes Charlie to lose his rose-colored glasses and see the importance of making the right choices in life and staying true to oneself.

While their courtship is in turmoil, the grim reality of his older brother Cody in a war zone separated from his wife and child serves as a reminder of the price of love when it is lost.

COUNTRY CRUSH is a classic love story told amongst contemporary elements and a musical genre which depicts the different types of love in a very poignant, heartwarming and sometimes heartbreaking manner.
