Water meters going active next month in North Bay as planned

Not truly ready for this.

That’s how councillor Mike Anthony feels about the implementation of the water meters and the billing rates that start next month.

However, not everyone agrees and his motion to delay water meter implementation was defeated in a 5-5 tied vote.

Councillor George Maroosis is the Chair of the Water Meter Rates Committee and he voted against the motion.

Maroosis says they are ready to go.

He says they know flat rates aren’t fair and that needs to be changed as soon as possible.

The water meters will start on September 1st.

Maroosis says council felt delaying it further would only hurt citizens in the long run.
