battalion100x108Some players will be trying to make the cuts and impress the local coaches, while others are trying to impress scouts and land jobs as professional hockey players next year. Matt Santos belongs in the latter category as he enters Battalion training camp as an overage player. Santos says the summer was a nice break, but he’s ready to get back to work. He says “during the summer it was a relaxing period, still working on skills and getting stronger to come back for a big year, this year again.”

He was asked if that means he’s trying to do anything differently heading into the 2015/16 season as it will be his final OHL season.

He says “I’m just gonna cherish the moments a little bit better and obviously, working hard is one of my stronger suits so continue that and try to add in a little more offense this year.”

Battalion players, prospects and some free agents will be on the ice over the next three days for intrasquad games, before an exhibition game in Sudbury on Sunday. The camp starts Wednesday and the intrasquad action on Thursday.
