Remember AdamIt’s a big day for students, parents and everyone working in education, but the first day of school is also an important day for drivers.

That from the Let’s Remember Adam campaign.

Adam Ranger was killed 15 years ago when a truck failed to stop for the flashing lights and stop sign on his school bus.

His brother Pierre says their message remains the same. “Take that extra few minutes everyday, stop for the school bus lights, pay extra attention while in school zones or neighbourhoods, because a lot of children are walking to and from school.”

He goes on to say, “Your personal time is not more important than a child’s life, so just stop and take those seconds and wait, because it’s worth it in the end, trust me.”

Meantime, Ranger says they’re launching their revamped website today which includes photo galleries, Adam’s story, updated stats on the number of vehicles not stopping for school buses and much more.

school bus distanceOverall, he says there’s still work to do to get motorists to stop for the school bus.

Adam would’ve been 20 years old this year, turning 21 in January.

Meantime, as we told you last week, the North Bay Police Service is starting a two week enforcement and awareness campaign today.

They’re monitoring traffic in school bus zones along with high infraction bus routes.
