Grand-Chief-Patrick-MadahbeeThe Anishinabek Nation Grand Council Chief says he would rather not vote in the October 19th federal election, but says he’s going to “hold my nose and cast my ballot.”

In a release, Patrick Madahbee says he’s concerned not doing so could condemn their communities to more legislative assaults against their treaty and inherent rights.

He also points to the difficulties eligible First Nations citizens are facing with registration, whether it’s with the online system or address and identification issues.

Madahbee is also encouraging all Anishinabek leaders to do what they can to help community members who decide they want to vote to be able to cast informed ballots October 19th.
