Forum focuses on Keeping North Bay Public

Residents got to hear about Public-Private Partnerships from the President of CUPE Ontario.

Fred Hahn was part of a forum last night to discuss the P3 model and he says this model is causing taxpayers to throw money away.

He says significant portions of our tax dollars are being funneled off into profit for corporations.

Hahn says these should be built through public borrowing.

He says borrowing rates are at an historic low and it could save billions of dollars across the province.

Hahn adds the people of North Bay and the surrounding area are seeing the direct relation of what happens when you build using the P3 model for a hospital.

He says hospital budgets are also being cut and that needs to change.
