The Terry Fox run is 35 years young this year and this year’s event in North Bay takes place Sunday at the waterfront.

Local organizer Ken Hastie says they raised 22 Thousand Dollars last year and are looking to repeat that in 2015.

He says registration starts at 8:30 with the event going till noon.

Hastie encourages people to run, walk, rollerblade or cycle whatever they wish.

He adds the area is wheelchair accessible so he encourages everyone to take part.

Hastie says Terry Fox was a great athlete whether it was as a basketball player or track and field athlete at high school or during his Marathon of Hope in 1980.

Funds raised from the run support cancer research.

Hastie says Terry Fox lived with a tremendous amount of courage.

He says last year, 27 Million Dollars was raised from Terry Fox runs in Canada. and the overall total in its history is 700 Million.  He says there are 9 Thousand different runs every year.
