battalion280x160The North Bay Battalion hosted the Owen Sound Attack for their final preseason game and lost with a final score 4-2.

It was the second game of their back to back exhibition series and both teams played a hardnosed game and plenty of penalty minutes were handed out.

After the game, assistant coach Ryan Oulahen said he was disappointed with the loss, but knows it’s a long season ahead.

“Some coaches will jump the gun and start getting real down on their team when you have an effort like that,” admitted Oulahen who has been coaching for the last four years.

“You have to remember that we have some really good players missing right now with NHL camps and when those guys come back, now you have guys playing in certain areas where they should be.”

The Battalion scored both their goals on special teams as Mark Shoemaker was able to net in a shorthanded goal and Austin Kosack had a power play goal.

The Battalion will be back in action Friday as they host the Peterborough Petes for their season and home opener.

Puck drop is set for 7pm at the Gardens.
