Apartment gutted in early morning fire on Lakeshore Drive

No injuries but a third floor apartment was gutted by fire early this morning in North Bay.

City fire crews responded the structure fire in the 400 block of Lakeshore Drive around one o’clock.

Platoon Chief Mike Newman says they found light smoke outside when they arrived on the scene, pointing out everyone got out.

He says a working fire was found on the third floor and fire fighters were able to get it under control within several minutes.

The cause is accidental and is possibly smoking-related.

Damages are estimated around $70,000.
