A disappointing start to the season for the North Bay Battalion as they fell 4-1 to the Peterborough Petes last night (Friday).

The Petes scored once in the first, and added three more in the second before North Bay finally got on the board.

Battalion Head Coach  Stan Butler says he thought the turning point was when Matt Santos was ejected for an elbow to the head on Josh Maguire.

Butler says he thought is was a clean check.

Six rookies and five second year players suited up for the Troops and Butler says those are the guys who will need to put in the work over the course of the season.

Jake Smith allowed four goals on 20 shots in the loss.

The Battalion will look for their first win of the year when they take on the Oshawa Generals at the General Motors Centre tomorrow evening (Sunday). Broadcast time is 5:35pm on Country-600 CKAT
