A special day on Friday at St Joseph-Scollard Hall as the revamped Cundari Field had its official opening.

The new facility includes a new synthetic turf field,a  new surface covered track, new lighting, new elevated bleachers and even new goal posts.

The 1.5 Million dollar project received a big shot in the arm from the schools foundation.

Spokesperson Donald Houle says the foundation is closing up shop and they donated what was left- three quarters of a million to this project but it has done a lot more including paying for scholarships and bursaries for students, paying for the fixing up of the chapel following the fire and this project.

He says it was an emotional day for him not only honoring Father Cundari in a special way but also celebrating all the people who have made  the foundation the success it was.

It was quite the celebration with an official blessing, the unveiling of a plaque and a ribbon cutting as well.

Houle says this project would not have happened without the contribution from the foundation.
