travellinkAn important pilot project on transportation will start up later this fall.

Thanks to $100,000 in provincial funding a community transportation pilot project will take place.

Judy Bechard of the District of Nipissing Social Services says the project is called Nipissing Travellink.

The project will determine if there is a need and what the solutions are for people who need transportation between North Bay and Mattawa and points in between.

No specific date has been set for the pilot to start but she says it should be mid-Fall and will continue until the end of March 2017.

Bechard says they’ll looking to have some sort of vehicle that will transport people to their appointments.

She says people they’ve talked to say they need transportation to get to medical appointments, work or training and education services they need.
