The local chapter of Habitat for Humanity is welcoming the community to their fourth build on Saturday.

An open house is taking place at 6230 Highway 63 from 10 am to 2 pm.

Vice Chair BJ Szabicot says they’re also holding a volunteer day from 9 am to 3 pm that day too, for those who want to help out.

He says they still need drywall and painting done along with the kitchen and flooring to be installed.

Meantime, Monday is World Habitat Day.

Szabicot says they’re highlighting the basic right of all to adequate shelter.

He says the benefits from having simple, decent shelter include better health, safer children, more secure employment, greater education along with increased social and community participation.

The United Nations has designated the first Monday in October each year as World Habitat Day.
