Getting ready to launch into YYB World Space Week

YYB World Space Week has almost arrived.

The three day event begins on Thursday and continues until Saturday when astronaut Chris Hadfield will deliver a talk at the Capitol Centre.

Much of the activity will take place at Canadore’s Aviation Campus and 22 Wing.

The week will include an industry day on Thursday, an education day on Friday and a community day on Saturday.

Canadore president George Burton sees three main benefits including a major opportunity to educate young people about the future in terms of space and technology.

He says the other benefits are the capabilities of North Bay and Canadore to develop space opportunities through YYB North Bay.

Burton says it’s a chance to engage the community in the possibilities of space.

He says industry day will be at the college’s aviation technology campus while education day has events at the 22 Wing Fitness and Wellness Centre Gym and at the Canadian Forces Museum of Aerospace Defense.

Community Day from 10-2 on Saturday will be at 22 Wing, with activities and displays.
