police battalionAn agreement has been signed between the North Bay Battalion and North Bay Police.

It will see North Bay Police officers volunteer time and show members of the North Bay Battalion what police work is like.

Chief Paul Cook says there are similarities in being an OHL player as three current officers can attest.

Cook says Brodie Beard, Steve Chabbert and Robin Boucher all played in the OHL and are currently North Bay Police officers.

Cook says the players will get a tour of police headquarters, check out what goes on in the courts and ride alongs with officers too.

Goalie Jake Smith says it’s worth considering becoming an officer and this is a great opportunity to see what police work is like.

Battalion head coach Stan Butler says it’s a great idea for some of his players to think about the future.

He says there are a lot of similarities between being an OHL player and being an officer including working hard to achieve a common goal, discipline and leadership.
