New housing development on the council agenda

Housing in the city’s south end is the focus of tonight’s (Monday) Council Committee meeting.

A staff report says one rezoning request involves a large swath of land in the Lakeshore Drive and Birches Road area.

It calls for 81 lots including three blocks for medium to high density housing like townhouses or apartment buildings.

Most of the proposal would be for single-detached, duplex or semi-detached units.

There’s also parkland and a proposed off-road vehicle trail included in the plan.

The second rezoning request in the 1300 block of Lakeshore involves a proposal for two single detached homes and up to eight townhouse units.
