The North Bay Battalion look to bounce back from a 3-1 loss to the Sudbury Wolves.

They take on the Niagara IceDogs at Memorial Gardens today.

Country-600 CKAT has a special hour and a half pre-game show starting at 1:30pm live from Discovery North Bay – with puck drop at the Gardens set for 3pm.

10 straight wins to start the season for the Powassan Voodoos as they defeat the Soo Eagles 5-3 at the Powassan Sportsplex on Saturday night.

Steve Harland broke a 3-3 tie when he scored at 18:27 of the third. Nick Siracuse had two goals for the Voodoos in the win. Nathaniel McLeod had the opening goal of the contest and Christian Whitcomb added an insurance marker at 19:12 of the final frame.

Back to back shutout victories for the Nipissing Lakers Women’s Hockey Team.They defeated the Brock Badgers 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in their second straight road victory.

Jackie Rochefort made 27 saves in the win – a day after stopping all 24 in a 3-0 win over the York Lions.

This evens up the Lakers record at 2-2-1 on the year.

Molly Sipprell opened the scoring in the second period against Brock, while North Bay Native Janica Vossos scored her first of the season just two minutes later.

The Lakers have a couple more road games next weekend taking on UOIT and Queens.

Both the men and women were on the pitch for Lakers Soccer action on Saturday.

On the women’s side the Lakers dropped a 3-1 game to Ryerson.

The Rams scored 14 minutes into the game and then 14 minutes into the second half to go up 2-0. Ryerson sealed the victory goal with an insurance marker in the 81st minute – although the Lakers did get on the board with a goal from Delaney Borasto.

The men also lost to Ryerson, a 5-1 decision.

The Lakers suffered their first loss in eight games – and are on the verge of clinching a playoff spot with three games left on the schedule.

Sitting in fifth place in the East Division, eight points up on Laurentian who is out of the playoffs, the Lakers will turn their attention to Toronto for their second game of the road trip.

Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at Varsity Stadium.
