SIUThe province’s Special Investigations Unit has determined there are no reasonable grounds to charge a West Nipissing Police officer following a June 2015 incident.

Police say a vehicle left Sudbury in the evening and it was seen doing 160 kilometres an hour on Highway 64.

Eventually the vehicle crashed into a tree in Lavigne and the motorist died.

The investigation concluded that it can’t be said that the officer forced the motorist to drive erratically or prevented him from coming to a safe stop and the evidence suggests the motorist couldn’t have known he was being followed by police.
