schoolAn increase in the number of students at or above the provincial standard when it comes to academic math at the Near North District School Board.  It’s 77 percent this year, up from 70 last year.

Applied math was down 8 percentage points to 30 percent this year.

Meantime, both board results for applied and academic at the Nipissing Parry Sound Catholic Board were down.

The percentage of students at or above the provincial standard in applied math was 47 percent this year, down from 59.

For academic this year it’s 82 percent, which is four percentage points lower than last year.

Also of note, there’s no provincial average for the English school system this year.

Not all schools took part in the test because of labour disruptions.

The only increase when looking at the French school boards was at the local French public board.

Applied math was up one percent to 32.

Their academic score was only down by one percent to 74.

At the French Catholic board both applied and academic scores dropped compared to the local results last year.

Applied was down from 58 percent last year to 28 percent this year.

Academic dropped four percentage points to 78.

Again this all involves the percentage of students at or above the provincial standard.

Both local French boards had scores below the provincial average for the French school system.
