Grand Council Chief Welcomes New Minister

The Anishinabek Nation is welcoming Carolyn Bennett as the new Indigenous and Northern Affairs Minister.

Grand Council Chief Patrick Madahbee says, “She’s a seasoned politician and has a strong knowledge of our issues. Hunter Tootoo will also bring a northern perspective and traditional knowledge to the new Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard Ministry,”

He goes on to say they look forward to working with Minister Bennett on issues important to the Anishinabek Nation including education, health and resource-benefit sharing.
