water tap faucet There are more provisions surrounding the water meters in North Bay.

Council approved the water supply by-law at Monday’s meeting, and it includes implementing items such as the “Good Neighbour Clause.”

However, Chair of Community Service Mark King felt there needed to an extra provision in there.

King says somebody has to be responsible for anything that could happen to the meter, and it shouldn’t fall onto the shoulders of the individual home owner. He says “as a corporation we need to take responsibility of that issue and make absolutely certain we protect the people who were forced to have this installed in their homes.”

Chair of Engineering and Works Tanya Vrebosch did not agree with that statement.

She says “If the meter is faulty it will be replaced at the cost of the city, but if it’s (the homeowners fault) it will be up to them to pay it, so I believe there was some fear mongering.”

Vrebosch added “it’s in your home you need to make sure you protect it, so be careful around it.
