CASThere is a need for more foster parents in the North Bay area.

That’s the message from students in the Social Services Worker Program at Canadore College.

Student Dan Woods says they are teaming up with the Children’s Aid Society to promote this message at the Downtown Christmas Walk on Friday night.

He says they will have a booth set up to pass along some information to people about the foster care system.

Woods says “the foster parents they have currently are overwhelmed, the ratio of kids in need of foster care to foster care parents isn’t where they need it to be.”

Another Student Faith Maki says “this creates a problem of children being separated from their siblings.”

She adds you can get information at their booth at the Downtown Christmas Walk to think about getting involved or starting the process to becoming a foster parent.

You can also contact the Children’s Aid Society for more information.
