Podium finishes for some local weightlifters

Several local weightlifters took part in the provincial junior finals in Oakville recently with a number of trips to the podium, including three for North Bay Norsemen and Valkyries.

Vanessa Gagnon and Emma Mondor (pictured with coach Larry Sheppard) won gold in their weight classes while Matt Jemmet won silver in his.

Gagnon secured a spot on the Ontario junior team and will take part in the junior Nationals next month in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Meantime, Nipissing’s Caleb Mady also won a bronze medal.
