Providing a path to success: Goal of John Howard Society

Helping people in custody keep up with increased productivity while they serve their time is one of the goals for the John Howard Society.

They are a volunteer group out of Sudbury who have designed a library program at the jail there.

Director of Operations Sara Berghammer says they are starting up a book distribution service for the North Bay Jail, with a full library service expected by January.

She says they have had a great response for people who want to volunteer their time.

Berghammer says she’s very impressed with the people who have come forward.

She says they are showing their dedication to the project as they have taken the afternoon off from their jobs to attend the orientation.

Berghammer says they already have 30 volunteers.
