Lionel Murphy Plaque Presentation (crop)A Canadian War Veteran has received a special gift from the North Bay Battalion. 

Retired Sergeant Lionel Murphy who served in World War Two and the Korean War  received a plaque from 4 of the players after he sung O Canada at a recent Battalion game.

It came just 2 days after the attacks in Paris and was part of the Rememberance Day dedication the Battalion have every year for our military members.

The teams annual Teddy Bear Toss game is Sunday when the Troops and Hamelin’s Outdoor Power Equipment ask fans to bring a new or gently used stuffed toy to the game.

It will be donated to local organizations that support children. 

Hamelin’s will be giving away 100 free Teddy Bears before the game that can be tossed onto the ice after North Bay scores its first goal. 

Bears will also be available for 10 dollars apiece at the game.

The stuffed toys should be wrapped in a clear, sealed plastic bag.

One fan will also come away from the game with a brand new snowblower courtesy of Hamelin’s.

 And the North Bay Battalion are  holding a used equipment sale

Saturday  from 12:30 to 2:30 in the Southeast corner of Memorial Gardens near the teams dressing room. 

Items include practice jerseys, helmets, gloves, track suits, sticks and goalie equipment.

Prices for the various items range from 20-100 dollars and cash only will be accepted.

Organizers say the supply is limited.
