Rota opens office 2(File photo) Hopeful. That’s what MP Anthony Rota says is the feeling on Parliament Hill after the first week of debate for the new Trudeau government.

He says there seems to be a new atmosphere in the house with Canadians looking forward to a bright future.

Meantime, Rota is looking forward to his role in the new Parliament.

As we told you last week, he’s been named Assistant Deputy Speaker and Assistant Deputy Chair of Committees of the Whole of the House of Commons.

Rota says his goal is to foster respectful debate in the house, pointing out this will give him the opportunity to enable all members to express their ideas and opinions freely.

He says he is one of four MP’s who will be sitting in the Speakers Chair on a regular basis.
