North Bay PoliceSworn and civilian members with the city police have a new contract.

The North Bay Police Service and the North Bay Police Association have ratified four year deals.

Sworn members receive one percent increases in January and July of each year of the contract while civilian members receive point-five percent this coming January and July, then one percent in January 2017 and 2018.

In a release, Dennis O’Connor, Chair of the North Bay Police Services Board says, “These agreements demonstrate what can be achieved through an honest and professional dialogue,”

He goes on to say, “We are pleased with the results because we believe they strike the right balance between the interest of our sworn and civilian members and the Board’s commitment to fiscal responsibility.”

“After a year of negotiations, we are grateful to have found common ground with our employer,” said Mike Tarini, Chair of the North Bay Police Association’s bargaining team. “This is a fair deal for our members. We believe it was achieved thanks to hard work, a mutual understanding of the current economic challenges of the communities we serve, and a joint commitment to reasonable and respectful discussions.”
