Christmas DinnerThe Community Christmas Day Dinner Committee is putting on an event Christmas Day at the Pro Cathedral from 11am-1:30pm.

Spokesperson Annette Dutrisac says their annual dinner is meant to ensure that no one goes hungry on Christmas Day.

She says the event is not just for people who are lonely or need a meal but also families attend because they need a bigger place to share a Christmas meal together.

Dutrisac says last year 400 people attended and they’ve been planning this event since September with as many as 125 volunteers taking part.

She says the Gathering Place, the Clarion Resort Pinewood Park and the Best Western have all helped to make this event an enjoyable one for all.

Dutrisac says there’s also music and a take home goodie bag as well.

Committee member Richard Dinnes says people attend for different reasons: a husband and wife who may want to meet more people or someone who is alone on Christmas Day.

Regardless, he says it’s a joy to be there.
