City Hall (some snow)The first regular council meeting of the year is tonight (Monday) and the 2016 budget is expected to be passed.

Mayor Al McDonald says they have been working on it since September and it has several good features, starting with the size of the tax hike.

McDonald says they are looking  at a 1.5 per cent hike in the tax levy, which is the lowest in over a decade and a half.

He says infrastructure spending is also key this year as they are spending $39-Million.

The meeting begins at 7 pm and the agenda also includes 3 rezoning applications, a general amendment to the zoning bylaw and it’s expected the board of directors of the airport corporation will be appointed.

There will also be a report on traffic changes in school areas and there is a condominium conversion proposal on Trout Lake Road.
