Cold Cases updates 2The North Bay Police Service unveiled 14 unsolved missing persons and homicide investigations they will be working on throughout 2016.

Detective Constable Helen Kent says as the year continues and the anniversary of the case draws near, they will update the media and the public on the details of the case.

She says some of these cases go back to the 1960’s, but they are hopeful they can find new evidence by reintroducing details through the use of the media and social media.

The first update was provided today (Tuesday) and Detective Constable Scott Buchanan says the case is about the disappearance of Steven Hector Gravel.

Buchanan says Gravel was 23 years old when he was last seen on December 23rd 2000, but he wasn’t reported missing until 2014.

Buchanan says Gravel would be 38 years old today and is described as a white male, 5’10” with brown hair, long in the back and short on top with hazel eyes.

Kent says 8 of the cases deal with people who were mental health or psychiatric patients.

Kent says most of the cases involve the patient walking away from the institution and not returning.

As the anniversaries of the cases come up the police will bring out more information.
