battalion280x1602The North Bay Battalion did not make any major moves at Monday’s trade deadline.

Battalion Head Coach Stan Butler says he wasn’t in a position to sacrifice the future to load up the roster for this year.

He says there weren’t many “hockey trades” to make outside of getting lots of draft picks and you can’t put draft picks into your current lineup.

Although, the Battalion will have a new player in their lineup tonight when they host the Soo St. Marie Greyhounds at Memorial Gardens.

The Troops acquired Maurizio Colella from the Hamilton Bulldogs on Monday’s trade deadline and Butler says he expects Colella to fit right in.

Butler expects to put him on a line with Zach Poirier and Brett Hargrave.

It’s an all northern Ontario week for the Battalion as they play against the Soo, Barrie and Sudbury.

The Battalion are coming off back to back losses last weekend and Butler says he expects the team to bounce back.

The Troops start the weekend five points back of Barrie for first place in the Central Division.

Broadcast time on Country 600 CKAT is 6:35 pm.
