casinoSpeculation about the Pinewood Park Clarion Resort becoming the site of a casino has been swirling in the community.

Assistant General Manager Jake Lacourse says there’s no substance to it.

In fact, he says the first he heard of it was through a voicemail our newsroom left him to inquire on the subject.

He says the building itself was for sale, but it’s no longer on the public market and all their facilities are open and it’s business as usual.

Lacourse says a casino or gaming facility would be a welcome asset to that area as it would help fill the hotel and be a revenue generator to the city.

Meantime, OLG announced in late November that we won’t know who the successful service provider of the Northern Casino bundle will be until 2017 at the earliest.
